To commemorate the last day of one of Tech’s oldest land-marks, Skibo, a large part of the student body (perhaps as many as 1500) turned out Friday afternoon to pay its last regards to the cafeteria. The party was complete with a band, dancing and “refreshments.” Further entertainment was provided by the Kiltie band which appeared and led the students in several songs. The band also led themselves on a merry chase as they succeeded in winding their way through the masses of people during the playing of marching songs.

The party was sort of a half-planned, half-spontaneous affair which lasted from 3:30 p.m. until approximately 5:30 p.m. Activities during the party ranged from dancing to beam-climbing with a chair-piling party, as depicted above, going on in the midst of the revelry. Thanks to the help of members of the administration and faculty, damage was kept to a minimum, although the dismantling process was started earlier than any school plans had anticipated.

A more reserved, yet just as enjoyable commemoration to Skibo’s death was paid by Cameron Choir last Thursday. The choir concluded their regular Thursday rehearsal by paying an irregular visit to Skibo at 5:30 and singing the Alma Mater and other Tech songs to the diners present. It was reported that, even with hot dinners on the table in front of them, these diners paid true respect to Tech and Skibo, as a part of Tech, by standing up for the Alma Mater.
