Arden Ryan

The appointment of Arden Ryan as Editor-in-Chief of The Tartan, succeeding Anna Cappella and Zachary Gelman, was made known on November 25, 2024, after the newspaper’s annual election. Mr. Ryan is a junior in the Carnegie Mellon Institute for Strategy and Technology, an officer of the Carnegie Involvement Association, and is a Resident Assistant at Mudge House.

Other Tartan appointments were Abigail Bao, Publisher; Sofia Johnson and Claire Thurston, Lead Copy Editors; Nina McCambridge and Holly Wang, News Editors; Courtney VanAuken, Forum Editor; Shannon Horning, SciTech Editor; Eshaan Joshi and Savannah Milam, Sports Editors; Lily Stern and Madison Kwo, pillbox Editors; Kate Myers and Sam Bates, Art Editors, and Natalie Koch, Photo Editor and Social Media Manager.

Miss Bao, a junior, is pursuing an economics and mathematics major. She’s been in The Tartan since freshman year and has previously worked as the Business Manager. She is also the External Vice President of the Introductory Finance Society under the Tepper Finance Group.

Miss Johnson, a junior, has a primary major in literature and culture, an additional major in professional writing, and a minor in creative writing. She is a co-music director and singer in Soundbytes a cappella.

Miss Thurston, a sophomore, is pursuing a major in dramaturgy in the School of Drama and a literature and culture minor. She writes the ‘Burgh Bulletin, edits Wikipedia, and reads old books.

Miss McCambridge is a sophomore in the Department of Mathematical Sciences. She is also a member of the Catholic Newman Club.

Miss Wang, a senior, studies human-computer interaction. She enjoys reading and is planning on going to grad school.

Miss VanAuken is a sophomore dramaturgy major with a minor in literature and culture. She also enjoys singing and baking.

Miss Horning, a junior, has a primary major in technical writing with a concentration in science and medical communication and an additional major in health humanities. She currently works as a grant writer for a non-profit and plans to enter the healthcare field for medical writing.

Mr. Joshi, a junior, is a member of the Carnegie Institute of Technology and studies electrical and computer engineering and computer science. He is also an officer of KGB, Editor-in-Chief of readme, student senator for CIT, and a member of the Alpha Kappa Chapter of the Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity.

Miss Milam, a junior, studies film and visual media and music performance. She is also a member of the a cappella group Joyful Noise.

Miss Stern, a sophomore, studies professional writing and ethics, history, and public policy; she additionally serves as Public Relations Chair of Infra Dance Company and is a Greek Sing chair and recruitment officer of Delta Gamma Fraternity.

Miss Kwo, a sophomore, studies chemistry on a biochemistry track with a minor in neuroscience; she serves as a Booth room head and Director of Alumnae Relations for Delta Gamma Fraternity and conducts biochemical research with the Armitage group.

Mr. Bates, a sophomore, is pursuing a BFA through the School of Art. He is an active member of Scotch’n’Soda and the creator of The Tartan’s “Adventures of Andy” comics.

Miss Myers is returning as Art editor for a second term and is a junior in the School of Art.

Miss Koch, a junior, has a primary major in professional writing and an additional major in film & visual media studies, as well as a minor in psychology. She is a Tartan Ambassador, Academic Coach, and a photo & video intern for the SLICE Office.
