- As Phipps’ Spring Flower Show closes, you can add pieces of the collection to your home garden. Two six-inch pots full of bulbs are going for $5.
- Dance — Twyla Tharp Dance
- April 19, 7:30 p.m., Byham Theater
- Twyla Tharp (incredible name) is a legendary American choreographer associated with the American Ballet Theatre. Her dance troupe is stopping in Pittsburgh for their 60th anniversary tour.
- Play — “King James”
- April 19–May 11, various times, City Theatre, student tickets available
- The title doesn’t refer to James II, king of England, but rather LeBron James, king of Cleveland, Ohio. The play follows two of the James’ superfans.
- Popular Music — Sound Series: King Hannah
- April 19, 9:00 p.m., The Andy Warhol Museum
- The Sound Series brings contemporary musicians to an unconventional performance venue, “the warhol” art museum. This month’s show features Liverpool-based and genre-bending King Hannah.
- Performance — “Poetry Unplugged: Always August”
- April 18, 7 p.m., The August Wilson African American Cultural Center, $35
- This annual event presents both spoken word poetry and two live-painted portraits of the Center’s namesake, Pittsburgh playwright August Wilson.
- Art Exhibit — On the Edge Of: 2025 Distillery Residency Exhibition
- April 17–June 7, Gallery Opening April 17, 6–8:30 p.m., Brew House Arts
- The gallery’s seven artists-in-residence present work centered around themes of discomfort, vulnerability, and instability.
