College: Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences
What committee are you interested in joining?
Academic Affairs Committee
Why are you running for Undergraduate Student Senate?
To serve the students of Dietrich College, first and foremost. Policy-wise, I want to continue to promote well-being for all students, pragmatically work toward bettering the academic experience, and push for more awareness around Student Government and its functions. I am running for Undergrad Senate to continue the work I have been doing in those areas, and hopefully scale it up even more. I am running to be able to continue to advocate, debate, and resolve issues facing undergraduates.
To you, what is the purpose of the Undergraduate Student Senate?
To bring representation to the undergraduate student body, and to carry out initiatives benefiting them: campus events, town halls, news subscriptions, and lobbying efforts with university leadership (to name a few). That’s a sort of “official definition” but I think it rings true for me. Put simpler, we are a group of students who want to help other students.
Why do you consider yourself qualified to serve on the Undergraduate Student Senate?
Firstly, I believe I have the experience. Senate has been an intrinsic part of my student experience. In fact, I ran for a vacancy in my second week as a Freshman. Since that time (I am now a Sophomore), I have tried to always be an active participant in meetings, represent Dietrich well, and boost up my committee work. As Chair of the Academic Affairs Committee, I have been so grateful for the opportunity to develop academic policy. But I also think there is something else to it: I love the job, so much. I don’t know if that makes me qualified, but I am always passionate about the work of Senate and what we get done. I will always come to meetings ready to participate for Dietrich.
